Your Lessons
Private music lessons can be a fun and enriching experience at any age or level.  Community Music welcomes beginners to advanced musicians.  Students and instructors will determine together what your goals and needs are.  Some students may choose to work towards classically oriented exams; others may be interested in learning pop, rock, jazz or folk music.  Whatever your goal, your lessons will be tailored to suit you, while learning the important fundamentals of music and your instrument.

The Instructors
Community Music is committed to maintaining a high standard of professionalism and musical integrity. Instructors are selected on their formal music education, teaching experience and references, with an emphasis on musicianship and teaching ability.  In addition to their credentials, CMI instructors are thoughtful and caring individuals who have dedicated themselves to nurturing their students’ musical enjoyment and progress.

Instruction Year
The instruction year consists of 36 lessons - see LESSON CALENDAR. Throughout the year, a maximum of two group lessons and two recitals may be substituted for regular lessons, at the instructor's discretion.  Recitals and group lessons are important educational tools which provide learning opportunities that cannot be achieved through private lessons alone.  Music is meant to be shared, so learning to perform with others and for others are important aspects of music lessons.

Scheduling
Most lessons take place between 3:00 and 9:00 pm. However, daytime instruction is offered for home-schooled students, adults, and even regular day school students who are unable to arrange after school or evening lessons.  Priority placement is given to returning students who have registered and paid their registration fee by June 30.  After June 30, new students are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Instruments & Instructional Materials
Community Music does not sell or rent instruments, but we can recommend reputable retailers that do – visit LINKS for a listing.  Also, your instructor will be happy to answer any questions you may have about choosing an appropriate instrument.

Once an instructor and student have determined what teaching materials are necessary, your instructor can purchase these for you.  Students will be billed, at cost, for lesson materials.
